WHAT IS YIN YOGA?
This form of yoga brings deep stretching together with mindfulness and meditation. The postures will be held for 1-5 minutes while props support you to allow muscles to relax. This way the deeper layers of the body; the connective tissue, the joints, tendons and bones get to be included in more opening. As we target these inner layers we stimulate different energy channels called meridians in Chinese Medicine. These channels are connected to your emotions, mental and physical inner-world. Yin Yoga has the power to restore the mental patterns into harmony with your true potential of inner peace, clarity and fulfilment.

ANATOMY WITH WILLEMIEKE
Yin yoga focuses on the connective, fascial and ligament tissues of the body. This Yin training will go beyond the traditional ways to see the body from a Western perspective and toward a more holistic approach. Meaning, understanding the body and anatomy is much more than learning the names of bones and muscles. The training will dive into functional anatomy. Honouring the fact that our bodies are unique in their structure and constitution, which means that poses may look different on different people because of this uniqueness. We will explore the function of the poses and being able to identify the movements in relationship to the joints, fascia lines and ligaments. We will explore adapting them to the physiology of our bodies and that of our students. This leads to a practice that is safe, creative and nurtering for everybody.
